it will work in an enclosed fixture if the fixture is large enoph to physically bulb and item.

I am using them outside but they are protected from the rain. They are under an awning. If you don't get them wet they should be fine. Just to let you know to get them to blink so you can register them on Smart Life cycle the power five times and the bulb should start blinking.
